Come on over here and see what is REALLY going on and stop listening to everything the US news media claims to be fair and balanced.

First off, I am not an American. But I would still like to give my opinion.
This may not really answer your question but, everyone always says "at war". I do not look at the Americans in Iraq as being at war. It always seems to me more like an invasion. I mean, isn't being "at war", when one country actually bombs another country or similar and then the first country retaliates? That being said, Saddam was a dictator and Iraq is probably much better off with him gone, but was that the responsibility of America? Shouldn't the UN being doing that job? There are many countries in the world run by dictators or military groups that 'took over', some in Africa. How come they are not 'going to war' with them too?
I know the arguement about WMD's etc. But if that was the case, shouldn't the UN being doing what the American's are doing now?
Also I can appreciate how difficult it must be for those who have families in the Military in Iraq and who have lost loved ones. I have some British family members also posted in Iraq and Afghanistan myself, and I am really concerned for their safety. But I do think that you can NOT agree with the 'war' yet still support your family, even though you may not agree with the reasons for being there.
Also, you are right. I think it seems Bin Laden has been basically forgotten by the whole Iraq situation. And isn't that where it all started from the beginning?
Lastly, I don't think people should jump down this posters throat because they don't agree with his/her views. It is an excellent question. It is good to discuss it and read other opinions, but you can do that without being nasty. Isn't that what the Americans mean by 'free speech'? You can agree to disagree?

Because we are trying to keep Al Qaeda out of Iraq so that we can stop the spreading of Al Qaeda. We are also there to liberate the people and keep out Saddam Hussein, who started wars with many other neighboring countries (Iran, Kuwait) and didn't show any signs of stopping his ruthless ways. By executing Hussein we are helping many other bordering countries because now they are safe from invasions and so are we, because Hussein could have very well had nuclear weapons (even though he didn't) and could have been a threat to the United States as well. Now that Hussein is out of Iraq, we are there to stabalize the government so that the people can form an organized nation. I think the reason we haven't won yet is because the Iraqis aren't cooperating for the most part, and that Hussein still has supporters in the country. U.S can leave at any time, but i think the main reason we refuse to is because we don't want it to end up like Vietnam. On another note, Bin Laden is soo sneaky and tough to find. We do have troops looking for him, just not very many. Bin Laden will likely kill himself if we find him, because he has even said that he would rather suicide than be brought to justice by the U.S.
Just my two cents. Thanks very much if you took the time to read all of this.

We went to war in Iraq because Congress voted to invade. There are 38 reasons. I am not going to list all them. Go ask your liberal politicians who voted to go
if you are too lazy here are just a few
http://www.reasons-for-war-with-iraq.info/
There is a connection with Iraq and alqueda just not as much as was thought. After the 1993 attacks the leader fled to Iraq and received protection.
The Winning strategy was regime change. Now we are helping the Iraqi people secure their country. Notice the Iraqi government has not asked us leave. The government voted in by the people. Notice Liberals never bring this up.
We are hunting down Bin Laden. unless you want us to invade the mountains of Pakistan and start a war with a nuclear power I suggest you drop that point.
Now that you have all your answers are your going to vote for a republican or are you going to bury your head in the sand and pretend like you don't understand.
Thees question have been answered 1000's of times but the left keep asking

You ask a question and then explain what you DON'T want us to answer with? Okay. The way I understand it is that we are in Iraq to help train Iraqi security forces so that over the next several months they can slowly begin to take control of their own country. Once they are able to police their own country, the US can gradually pull out and reduce troop levels. A democratic Iraq that is able to stand on it's own two feet is much better than an Iraq controled by a murderous dictator who defied the UN for over 10 years, invaded his neighbors, and used chemical weapons on his own people. Not only that, but having 130,000 dug in US troops next door to Iran probably has a lot to do with it too! Ever thing of that?

"Check out the failed 17 UN resolutions that began back in the commie years,...I mean Clinton years"
Ha. This is the best they can come up with. Since when do UN resolutions set US foreign policy? Sounds like the acts of a traitor give up US sovereignty to the UN.

Why? Here are the words of DEMOCRAT John Kerry;
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

WOW, what's it like to have the government call you on your captain commando ring and tell you everything that is going on. I know nothing more about this war then you do. I know I lost my son in February of this year and that's all I pretend to know. If you would please tell us what YOU know I would enjoy that because I don't think anyone in this forum has full answers.

You cheated. You are supposed to ask one question and give up five points for asking the question.
Go back to 9-12-01 and read newspapers, up to and including today. All of the reasons...which are valid by the way...have been hashed over by the main stream media.
I suspect you are a liberal, just trying to bait conservatives. You should already know the answers to all of your questions.
