Does anyone remember if they ever made mention of any former spouses or the other parents to the kids? It's just one of those stupid questions that once heard, drives you nuts until you get it figured out..... Thanks!

I do remember in the first episode something about Bobby wanting to keep the picture of his real mom. But I think thats all that was ever mentioned. I do believe the pretense was that Mike was a widower and Carol was a widow.
But to tell you the truth, I always wondered that myself!

Good question! I have watched dozens of episodes of this show and never once heard either Mike or Carol discuss their previous marriages or the childrens' other "real" biological parents. I don't recall the show ever mentioning whether Mike and Carol's former spouses were even still alive but I think the general idea of the plot was that both were deceased and that they were widows/widower rather than that they had divorced their former spouses. The show never gave a whole lot of backstory to what caused Mike and Carol to get together either. I think we were just supposed to accept the idea of Carol and her daughters and Mike and his sons as a cohesive family on their own. In that respect, I'd say the show was a bit "cutting edge" for its time compared to most TV shows in its positive portrayal of a non-traditional or non-"nuclear" family.

Nope. The premise was that Carol was raising three girls (but there was never a mention of an ex-husband) and Mr. B was raising three boys, also no ex-wife ever heard from.
The show was aired in a time when this sort of arrangement wasn't unheard of, but it was unusual, and throwing in exes would have made it unacceptable for family TV.

Um... I think there is some mention of it. On like the first episode when they get married one of the boys asks his father if his new mom would be mad because he has a picture of her. He was about o throw it away and his dad says she won't mind. That was the only mention. Hope I helped!!

i also believe that they are mentioned only in the first episode...of the wedding.....
