It would probably be called Realism. Like if someone asked you whether the glass was half empty or half full and you answered its full to the halfway mark, you may be a realist.

I would say realism falls between the two - a pessimist is always expecting the worst and an optimist is always expecting the best...and a realist knows that sometimes things will be good and sometimes they'll be bad, and that it all evens out in the end.
