It certainly makes me think twice about continuing my Vrigin Media satellite subscription.

Virgin Atlantic Airways, like most airlines, are caught between competitive fairs and high fixed capital cost with increasing fuel costs. Any smart airline will respond by increasing prices to meet increasing costs and increasing the "load factor" (percentage of seats that are occupied).
Unfortunately, most US airlines have relied on fuel hedging to assure a profit. With affordable hedge positions gone, the airlines must raise prices. In the US, the airlines are incapable of making this jump.
Hat's off to Virgin Atlantic in their profitable years and interest in bio-fuels as a cost saving and environment saving move. Unfortunately, profit margins are miniscule for airlines even when they do everything just right. A few million dollars in added cost can make a huge difference to the financial well-being of an airline.
Airlines need to focus less on cost and more on attracting passengers to their fleet through a superior travel experience.

At the moment my TV, telephone, internet etc. are all supplied by Virgin. There had better not be any price increases, I'm already far from pleased that my money might be going towards this donation Branson is making.

It won't make one iota to me, because all Virgin merchandise is being boycotted and anyone else's merchandise that pays into their legal fund. If it has the Virgin logo, name, anything to do with Virgin on it, I'm boycotting and I'm not the only one.
