You need to have something worthwhile and interesting to read. If you blog about your cats, odds are you won't get much traffic. If you post insightful, analytical comments about the state of the world and how to fix it, you may have world leaders reading your blog.
Content rules, and drivel drools.

First of all, Google doesn't give much creedence to subdomained web sites and blogs, like yours. If you use blogspot and expect people to find you through search engines, you may be in the index, but on page 5481. No one will find you! You need your own domain name for your blog:
eddieaddiction.com That's all.
You might also consider getting a CD on blogging from the American Society of Journalists and Authors.
http://www.asja.org Go to their store and look under the 2007 conference and on the first or second page you will find a CD called "promoting your writing through blogs and technology" It's $19.00. You'll learn a lot about promoting bogs. The ASJA is a professional writer's association. They know what they are talking about

First and foremost you need the patience as it is not easy to get quick results, usually the life cycle of a blog ranges very slow, and you need to have to convert people's attention to your blog takes some time and efforts, usually the best way is to establish and market yourself as a writer who gives a value addition to anybody who reads your blogs and this is the way you get people to read, and one more important thingy is that people read stuff in your blog and it is difficult for them to click the ads, so u need to put ads which are related to the subject matter which you are writing and this is one way to make things better, try RSS feeds and make people bookmark ur webpage once the popularity goes up it will attract people on a regular basis and remember keep updating it very quick, the more ur thought process the more chances of being noticed.

If you go to my blog at: www.hpshappy.blogspot.com and scroll down you see - below 'Search by Theme' - a widget you can put on your blog, read all about it by clicking at the botom of the widget to get to a site that explains how it works.
Also you can create a 'Syndicated Column' with a 'Resource Box' with your link, or create a 'YouTube Movie' to make people curious about your blog, you can find out all about those methods at HP's Happy Blogspot and look for it as examples.
All the Best,
HPvD.

Many make the mistake of believing that once they create a blog, people will immediately flock to it. There are millions out there so why would they visit your blog?
Here are some ways you can promote your blog
1. Create great content – everything starts with great content. Think 'Linkbait" -- or writing about stuff that would be so great that people will want to link to you. It can be a news hook where you write about something that is contrary to what everyone else is saying; resource hook where you have the only information available or humor hook.
2. Update the content regularly – make your visitors come back again and again to your blog by providing daily updates (even multiple posts per day!)
3. Submit your blog to blog directories such as
Technorati http://www.technorati.com/ping.html...
Blogstreet http://www.blogstreet.com/bin/addrss.cgi
blogwise http://www.blogwise.com/submit
boingboing http://boingboing.net/suggest.html

BLOGCATALOG http://www.blogcatalog.com/blogs/submit_blog.html

4. Network with other bloggers – comment on their blogs, read and link to other blogs and request them to link back to you
5. Email other bloggers – pitch your post to other bloggers and hope that they will link or mention your blog
6. Use techniques to showcase your blog – examples include meme games such as the Daily Meme http://thedailymeme.com/ or carnivals http://blogcarnival.com/bc/
7. You can try pay per click programs such as Google Adwords http://www.google.com/adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing http://searchmarketing.yahoo.c... – though the key is to carefully track your ROI and which keywords actually perform well
8. Make sure your blog is indexable by the search engines - and make sure that your titles have great keywords that your target audience are most likely to use
9. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

10. Submit articles with your blog posts. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.
