I know that the holdays are coming. It's almost halloween, thanksgiving, and christmas. I am the only child, in high school. Last year for halloween, i went trick or treating by myself. I might not go this year due to braces, i'll just watch disney channel. Then for thanksgiving, my parents were busy fixing/cleaning the house. I just ended up watching thanksgiving parades and events on tv. Our plan was to go to our neighbor for the dinner. They didn't have a kid in their house that's around my age. It was a parent kind of thing, only older people were there. I ended up going with my cousins when they called in the afternoon. I had dinner with them. My parents had it with our neighbor. Then for Christmas, my mom had a head ache, due to using the house heater. My dad had a muscle pain in the shoulder/arm. I just mainly watched tv that day. How can i have fun this holiday season because i'm the only child? any ideas?

umm y did you go trick or treating by yourself? y dont you go with some of your friends it will be funner for you and im sure they will be happy to have another person to go trick or treating with. on thanksgiving, it stincks that yor family was seperated, y dont you try to get together a mice family diner, you can inviteall your family and friends, or just have it with you, your mom, and dad. do the same for christmas..if your parents arent feeling good, y not make them a nice dinner,as best as you can.that should make the season more funn. also try to get together with your cousins or aunts and uncles. hope that helps..
btw.where do you live?

If your in highschool you shouldn't be out trick or treating if anything collect cans of food for a shelter. Go to a school dance, have a halloween party with parents permission. Volunteer to help out at a daycare and face paint. Have a pumpkin carving party with friends.
Thanksgiving - typcially involves family and it shoudl be your parents and other relatives.
Christmas - go skating, tobogganing with friends or cousins, make a gingerbread house, make christmas ordaments for friends and family, have a slumber party with friends and watch Christmas specials....bake cookies with them.
Just because you are an only child doesn't mean you are sucked out of the life of holidays. I think that is silly. You have friends and cousins.

It sounds like to need to make your own extended family because you feel left out, being by yourself. If you have a close friend confide in them, maybe they can ask their parents if you can hang out on those boring holidays.
Even though I came from a family with four kids, most holidays I always got away to visit my "other families." My best friends' parents sort of adopted the friend's of their kids. We would even call them mom and dad. If nothing was going on at home, or I needed to get away from my siblings before a war broke out, I knew I could go to my friend's house. Do you have anyone you are that close to?
I didn't realize I was a "member of the family" until my friend's mom died and at the funeral her grandmother came to me to give/get hugs. I still introduce my friends as my sisters and have my kids call them "aunts."

I think Halloween is somewhat of a start to the holiday season, but I think Thanksgiving then Christmas is the true "holiday season"

well, i am a only child too...
why you don't contact with your friends? maybe they have the problem as well, and they can give you some suggestions, then you can share the time though the holidays.
