What makes you agree with his theory or vice versa? Also keep in mind that he is an extreme utilitarianism.

I am a utilitarian but I disagree with Bentham, I think that the concept of pleasure is the wrong one. He believed in using the pleasure/ pain principle to determine the ethical decision. I favor the concept of the decision that will result in the greatest good for the greatest number of individuals. The term good could be interchanged with happiness but I think that Bentham's concept of pleasure was incorrect. I hope that this adequately answers your question, if not please supply additional information about your question.
Note: Thank you, this has been one of the VERY few truly philosophical questions posted on this page in quite a long time. It is refreshing to read a question that requires an IQ above 30 to answer.

I am a hedonist.

As a person ages...they may tend to become more hedonistic. I suppose there are many reasons for this. Mainly, though, age equips one with the faculties to handle it, while robbing one of the detriments (which Guru elaborated upon).

A tolerant society should allocate at least a modicum of opportunity for the Bentham position to operate within.

Such theories can easily be shown to be biased.

If good is pleasure then doing things that create pleasure are good. We could then say that the rapist, thief or murder who experiences pleasures at these acts is then doing good. After all, pleasure and good are linked for Bentham.

Hedonism, in and of itself, has many issues, but that is lengthy issue for discussion.
