It is already occurring in America in the Nanny States with Political Correctness gone overboard! If you can tell adults what they can and cannot do within reason in the confines of their homes, it is defined as Communism and California is leading the pack! NYC is a close second with the Driver's licenses that can track them wherever they go! Forced conversion to a false religious system is next.

Government should do somethings. Protect the nation, make roads, police and fire' garbage pick-up Why do some people consider that socialist? That is what government should do. Other things, not so much. The problem is that more and more people want to look to government to satisfy their everyday needs. That is their own job, not governments.
Demand will never have a end. Demand is ever growing. Something has to curb it.

Communism is dead. Ask the Chinese and Viets.

Their governments are now authoritarian capitalism. They just call themselves communist.

I further see communism is so dead that the uneducated far-right are so desperate for an enemy that they have to tag the loyal opposition as communists. How sad.

It's easy to see they did not live through the Cold War, when Democrats were front and center in containing the USSR.

In the end, we are all citizens.

Republicans frequently play the "communism" and "socialist" cards - to discredit universal health care - available in all other industrialized nations - but NOT in America - the richest nation on earth!

However, Republicans seem perfectly content with our socialized fire and police departments.

But notice that the Fox News talking heads represent CORPORATE media - sponsored by the Insurance and Pharma industries. Bingo!
And the talking heads HAVE affordable health care. Bingo!

Democratic Socialism is the phrase you are after...

Atheism will start to take over christianity.and people will start living for the "now" and start doing something about all the deprivation in society, instead of just moralising at it.

People will realise that the economic system currently in place...can only create prosperity for a certain amount of people, and is actually "poverty dependant".

They will try and find a fairer one and this will lead them to democratic socialism.

It is already here. Communism is an economic system, not a political system. It is the natural result of rthe class struggle that results from capitalism.

When people tire of being hosed by the elites and CEOs, then we might see socialism, but communism, I doubt that.

As long as there is welfare, it won't happen. And welfare is going strong. Social security benefits to the elderly, however, is at risk in the not so distant future. But we need not worry about gramps organizing a revolution.
