or could it be that if Richard Brason had to pay for tha kind of publicity, it would have cost him alot more, its no wonder he is rich,, smart thinking.
And when the maccanns are convicted he will get more free publicity, and say he just wanted to help bring out the truth about what happened to Madeleine, and that he feels his donation helped to give the best possible defence to her parents, and in turn it helped to get to the truth.
He is one smart, two faced person

I admire Richard Branson, but I think he should have donated money to a charity or funding for air ambulances.
Although I am classed a pro McCann on these boards, even I can see that donating that kind of money toward legal fee's is wrong. The McCann's are quite wealthy so should be to fund them themselves.
Families who could have done with the money are families with nothing, the likes of Rhys Jones parents who could have put that money up for a reward to catch the killers of their son, or cases similar to that.
Or some of our poor soldiers coming home wounded with nothing but the benefit system to look forward to in the future to support their families.
Actually the list is endless of good causes that could have done with 100k
Edit - Lol Just, I will sleep on the proposal....

Are you lot kidding me!! Do you think they are worried about money at this moment in time when their daughter has disappeared and for the rest of their lives they will have to live with the consequences. How do you know if Richard Branson doesn't give pots of money to charities anyway. You see, every body is jealous yet they have become successful by hard work and taking risks, just so everybody can try taking it all away with them. If it wasn't for these people earning shed loads and paying taxes at 40% this country would be bust. Whilst the father of Madelaine is busy trying to find his daughter he is not working which means another hospital and it's patients suffering as well. This man is a top doctor for god's sake. The Portuguese police are an embarrassment. Bungling idiots. My wife's friend married a Portuguese man and moved over there. when she had a baby it was a blond boy and his family said to her that she should never leave the boy out of her sight because babies like that get stolen. Remember Ben going missing in Spain all those years ago - never to be found. A blond baby over their is like a golden ticket to a certain travelling community.

I don't think it is wrong for Richard Branson to donate money to the McCann's legal fund. It is his choice. To a lot of poeple the McCann's are facing a huge ordeal. The courts will decide if they are guilty or not. They do deserve the best legal advice possible (as does everyone else for that matter!). I don't think the McCanns are guilty of anyting, but that is my opinion simply based on the rumours I hear. I have not heard any concrete evidence yet: that will only happen should the case go to court. I respect everyone else's opinions as well, but I do wish you would wait and see how things pan out in court.

Richard Branson loves to be in the limelight and since at the moment the McCanns are taking all this limelight away from him then obviously the saying goes if ye can't beat em join em. Hence the offering of the McCanns legal fees.
Just wished he had more brains than money and used both to fund a much worthy course other than the McCanns legal expenses.

I wonder if Richard can remember any case where a child was snatched from inside a premises?
Whilst everyone has to wait for the evidence to come out the McCanns are the main suspects. Since Richard will have access to no more evidence than the rest of us I would suggest that there is something deeply disturbing about providing money to defend the main suspects!!
Why did he not use the money to find Madeleine? But of course this is a cult of celebrity and class thing and finding Maddie does seem to be an inconvenience to these people.
Time for some common sense - MADELEINE is still missing and alive or dead finding her should come first by a long chalk!!!

He could have give the money anonymous, but he did not, publicity like this cannot be bought, he knows just what he is doing, and when the films/ books come out, he will feature in all of this, rich people also pay less tax, the more money they give to charity, it's win win win for him.

Branson will just put this on his advertising account to be honest - it's cheap promotion and advertising. The man gives a lot of money to good causes and charity but chose for some reason to "publicise" this donation - it was announced on the BBC news for gods sake. Why aren't all his other donations announced as breaking news. You don't get rich as Richard Branson by being nice.
I want to know what the McCanns are going to do with all this money. As they are innocent, surely they don't need any legal assistance - they are innocent right? Secondly, the £1million pounds in the find Maddie fund has barely been touched.

the lot of them obviously know something we don't!
my opinion of branson has changed.
my opinion of the mccanns has stayed the same.
they MUST be prosecuted for neglect, the justice system must act.
what ever happened to the Daily Express' campaign?
or will it be a case of Camp Mccann declaring there's no point in punishing the mccanns, further.
why not?
Justice is supposedly blind, isn't she?
common sense needs to return to the UK.
what better way to set an example than use these two.

My opinion is that Hustler publisher and billionaire Larry Flynt ought to answer this with a $1,000,000 reward fund to gather enough solid evidence to expose the actual truth and make a couple of arrests so this story will sink into oblivion as the sickening rape of society's innocence it really is.

If at the end they're found guilty, the publicity is going to be a bit negative for richard branson, at the moment, just for supporting these child neglecters i guess he's receiving negative publicity. i wont use a company who support selfish parents who left 3 under 4 alone in an unlocked room in a foreign country.
