in 2004 I was diagnosed with a condition that is fatal in 5 years if detected early. my condition was such that the internal medicine doc said I would not probably live very long. He was right, I spent 3 months in a coma.
now I take meds (got that part right), and i'm not assured this day or that I will awaken from sleep. I will not see old age.

It depends, I look at my grandmother, she is 87 now, she used to be so active all her life, even a few years back. But now she can't even walk the street by herself, she is losing balance while walking because of some medicine she must take. It is very hard for her, she can't do that much alone and she feels useless - I don't know if I want to get to that, but I definately want to reach 70. A lot of people die earlyer than that. There are stil joys to be lived after the age of 70 and not everyone gets to live them... so I guess growing old means being lucky

Growing old and all of it's side effects are life. I don't consider myself lucky. Who on earth hasn't had hardship and obstacles in their path? We have to bypass, override, nullify,or even deceive what brings us down. Move forward and make the most of each day given to us. I'm glad to be alive and look forward to old age. What scares me is doing it alone.

Yes, indeed. I'll be lucky to reach 80. I read recently that a woman can expect to live about 85 years with relatively good health. Sadly, we will outlive the men in the same age category.

I would.... it is better to have a life filled with hardships then not live at all right? Having hardships shows you are alive and can still feel!

I have NO desire whatsoever to grow old, nor for life everlasting past my death.
First of all, why would I want to drag with me the burden of my old body?
And number 2, All that I have already witnessed and experienced in this life tells me with no further interest, Hey, ONCE IS enough!

If I'm a healthy elderly woman, yes.
If I'm an old woman with Alzheimer's Disease, or any of the diseases old women get, no.
It all depends on circumstance.
