They must have made money in the way you suggest, trouble is it will be absorbed by their other losses.

Lets face it, this bank is possibly going to be sold off to another bank at a bargain basement price.

It might seem unfortunate, but loyalty is irrelevant. That is an ethical question which won't have any bearing on Northern Rocks actions. They have contractual agreements with customers,creditors, and investors. Those agreements will determine how any funds are dispersed.

the nothern rock ship is sinking so fast that jumping overboard now is the only answer.
If you withdraw money from today insist they pay you cash as in a weeks time there will be a lot of bounced cheques floating out there.
