John Adams(the 2nd US President) said "Our Constitution is for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the governing of any other". Was he speaking to the throngs of irreligious, atheists, satanists and hedonists that are swelling our society attempting to choke off the rights off a few fervent moral and Christian people? Was he worried even in the 18th century that society would move away from Jesus and embrace all things Jesus warned us about? Are our founding fathers turning in the graves knowing how many are turning their backs to God and thus morality??? Waiting for the atheist secularists to claim Washington , Franklin and Thomas Jefferson as one of their own. Please. Do atheists, satanists, hedonists and secularists take credit for moral and societal decay we are currently experiencing? Is your irrational hatred of Bush espoused from your irreligious lens you see the world in?

My google search yielded many more:
John Adams famously wrote, “We have no government, armed in power, capable of contending with human passion unbridled by morality and religion . . . our Constitution was made only for moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.” And George Washington said, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to a political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.”

Yes, our country was founded on it, the atheist 'interpret' the Constitution to their suit their own beliefs. And then try to stuff it down our throats. I won't accept them, they are promoting communism and helping our enemies.

I am a religious person - I believe in the Bible and I believe Jesus was exactly what he claimed to be. But that doesn't mean that I would impose my beliefs on everyone. While I'm sure John Adams was a great person, he was wrong to think that all moral people should agree with his ideas.

So what? John Adams was a morally upright guy, more power to him. This is 200 years later, and Bush can hardly be compared to Adams. Bush is an admitted drug user who has contributed more to the national debt than any president in history. That's not irrational. That's just fact.

There's an article about how Bush has defied Congress, and refuses to enforce the laws that they pass. Whether you agree with Bush's policies or not, you have to admit that refusing to enforce the laws of the United States IS the president's job, and Bush's refusal to do so sets a very bad precedent.
The next person in office may not be as conservative as Bush. How would you feel if Hilary Clinton got elected, and she refused to enforce the laws of the land?
By the way...I don't hate Bush. I feel sorry for him.

According to your quote, John Adams doesn't even mention Christianity. He says religious, which could mean Judaism,
Islam, etc. Methinks you are reading too much into the quote.
