They already have in the past and more. Read a little history. Maybe you have heard of the internment camps, arrest of congress members for obstruction of a war, censorship of both mail and news.

Get a grasp on the reality of the world son. This ain't no fantasy. You are spoiled and don't even know how many of your "Rights" have been compromised or out right stripped away over the years and most for your demand of safety not freedom. You are a useful idiot and a danger to the country.

That is the worst thing about all of the powers given to the executive branch. People assume that those who complain about that are just against Bush but fail to think about all the future leaders who will also have these powers. Who knows in the future who will be the one to abuse all of those powers and what can be done about it when they do. Power corrupts. I'm a democrat but party does not determine who will abuse their powers.

Ironic is a better description.

What I'm worried about is the Republican president that is voted into office in '12 after the '08 Democrat can't fix the mess that the '00 president got us into.

No - as a democrat I don't find the idea appealing or funny.

I'll oppose any Dem President that does.

It'll be hilarious when the cons demand that he gives up those powers.

Bush should give up those powers, and I hope the next President will have enough knowledge of the Constitution to not expand his or her powers any further.

Don't worry.
If Democrats have a strong majority, all these 'measures' will be rolled back. There's no doubt about that. And which organisation will keep their feet to the fire until they do?
The much-maligned Moveon.org, that's who!
So, go out and vote Democrat!

Well, you're right about one thing, a Democratic President in 08. Turnabout is fair play. I'm positive there will be a rollback in unjust laws enacted by this dictator. But, hopefully they will use the spying powers on the repubes, before rescinding this unconstitutional rule.

Hillarious, and appropriate.

I will be signing up to work for Homeland security. I want to spy on the cretin upstairs, just like I know he is spying on me.

The difference being that he has learned nothing about me and my family... and I know HE is a meth dealing cop.

The turn around could be delicious.
