You would think with the Iraq issue at a critial juncture, stay the course or withdrawal, that Bush Sr. would be voicing his support of Jr's policy to help unify the nation behind it.

That is, of course ,if he believed Jr was making the right decision.

Actually, he has spoken against the war on 2 occasions.

Immediately after the conflict began it was clear that looting had commenced in the liberated cities in the south and he suggested that "This was a war of discretion" which is to say it was not a necessary war.

Second was a year or so ago when he was brought to tears and had to remove himself when he was at a conference regarding some of the humanitarian concerns wrought by the war in regard to the rejection of the Baker plan. While he didn't say anything specifically, that isn't usually the behavior of someone who thinks they're doing a "heck of a job".

What was more important was how he worked behind the scenes to act against the proponents of the war,

To be honest, many people see George Sr. and George Jr. as carbon copies of one another, I frankly find their administrative styles and policies totally divergent.

But basically it comes down to "knowing your limitations" clearly George Sr. knew there were limits to power. George Jr. has had to learn that lesson the hard way.

Even though they are referred to within the administration as 84 (Bush 41 + Bush 43) because there are matters they do discuss, there are clearly areas where they disagree as well.

I don't imagine for a moment their relationship is anything less than complex.

As far as other presidents are concerned,

Ford commented that he thought the Iraq war as a "Big Mistake" and regarding "Rumsfeld and Cheney and the president made a big mistake in justifying going into the war in Iraq. They put the emphasis on weapons of mass destruction, now, I've never publicly said I thought they made a mistake, but I felt very strongly it was an error in how they should justify what they were going to do."

Carter referred also to Mr. Cheney's Record on Iraq as an abysmal failure and has made many comments on the current counterproductive US-Israeli policy.

Clinton - of course has made many comments either offered or extracted regarding Iraq.

Conservatives won't like this but as Reagan of course was dead but we do know that he felt comfortable enough with Iraq to both send them weapons of mass destruction as well as tolerate their use.

I hope this dispels the common folk-myth that ex-presidents don't comment on what current presidents do.

It's pretty plain that Iraq has been probably the largest most impactful policy error on the part of the United states in the last 150 years or so.

can not provide you sturdy information, yet there replaced right into a video tape of Jr. speaking to a dinner team, correct to the conflict in Iraq. The look on Sr.'s face replaced into unmistakable. His look of disapproval or perhaps disgust, ought to no longer be neglected. the information media made a small play in this, even though all of it of sudden disappeared.

Well, he referred to Hussein as "Mad Dog of Middle East", during the Kuwait Theater. Now the Mad Dog has been put to sleep! How ever there are now two Mad Puppies, barking and chasing people around, causing panic and a big mess.
Bush Sr. knows about this puppy problem, but he is embarrassed to say anything cause one of them pooch, is his offspring?! So go figure.

Best Regards.

According to the latest news , Majority of Iraqis, wish that old dog was still roaming around! Because when he barked, all people from different tribe or religions lived in relative safety and security, all they had to do was, to avoid stepping on that Big dog's tail.
But now..........horror, horror!

Before his son became president, Bush Sr. said that occupying Iraq would be a big mistake. After his son went into Iraq, he kept his mouth shut. I don't think Bush Sr. was ever very fond of Jr. He liked Jeb more. And these days he even seems to like Bill Clinton. Ha ha.

Bush Sr. started the whole Iraq debacle with the Gulf War in the `90s. He doesn't like to speak about it because he would rather 'cut n run'.

The former President Bush is doing what is considered correct to do by former Presidents, not commenting on the current President. He has also stated, at the beginning of President Bush's first term, that he would not make public comments regarding his son's Presidency or his policies. That is his choice. To assume he agrees with you because he makes no comment is erroneous.

Well he can't speak the truth about his Son's deed. Because the son himself knows that the Iraqi invasion in the first place was wrong!
But Bush junior had to invade despite knowing the truth, all because his presidency was at the mercy of a handful of powerful blackmailers who have taken the whole American nation hostage to their own parochial inerests. Hope it helps!

You liberal freaks will never stop inventing ways to demonize Bush and no matter what Bush does you will make up a new way to say Bush is bad. All this time you freaks say Bush is stupid and Rove is Bush's brains. If George H.W. Bush ( he is not Bush Sr. and if you educated yourself you would know that) says anything in support of our current President Bush then you Bushophobic liberals will scream that daddy is defending his little boy. By not intervening, George H.W. Bush is showing us that he knows his son is man enough to do the job without daddy's help. You liberals hate real men. Now go ask Osama what question to ask next. America's enemies appreciate your liberal support.

That is not a policy that American presidents do.
I can't believe how deep some people have to dig to come up with things like this. It must consume their every waking moment.
