Anyone who has told you yes is absolutely wrong. No person under the age of 18 can be legally bound by a contract (anywhere) so no, you cannnot get your own checking account until you're 18. One of you parent's names will have to be on the account too. And it has to be a parent or legal guardian too, not just someone over 18 because that person has to be legally responsible for you.

No, depending upon your state's Age of Majority laws, you probably won't be able to until you reach the state's Age of Majority laws or use an online bank to bypass them. So, you will need a parent/guardian or have someone you trust over 18 to open an account for you. (Brother, Sister, In-laws, etc.)

A savings account, maybe.
Depends on where you are.
Doesn't hurt to try.
A checking account, no.

Here in CA, my granddaughter opened a savings and a checking account with her pictured ID and social security card. She didn't need permission.
Call the bank.

Not being a legal adult, your parents will have to cosign the account, or a person of legal age.
