Occassionally, but not every time, as you accerearate from a stop, I hear a nosie that sounds like a rapid intermittent air release or intake. It almost sounds like a baseball card in the spokes of a bicycle wheel if you know what that sounds like. It immediately quits if you let off the accerator and it will quit by it self when the vehicle shifts gears. The sound is coming from outside the passenger compartment but can't tell exactly where. The vehicle idles alitle rough when A/C is engaged but other than that runs fine. It has new plugs and wires. Ideas on what to check?

GM bulletin # 03-01-38-019A This condition is caused by liquid slugging of the A/C compressor. This condition may cause an internal failure in the A/C compressor. The serpentine belt tensioner and serpentine belt may also be damaged.

Shut off the a/c system and drive the truck, if the noise is gone ,then your problem is the a/c system .
the noise that you're hearing is the a/c tensioner oscillating ,
and rubbing on the transmission line causing that noise.
in some cases, it rubs through the lines causing the lines to leak fluid.
the a/c compressor must be replaced.
replace the orifice tube.and you must install an in-line a/c filter.
AC DELCO part # 15-10413.
also make sure the belt is OK, and I would replace the belt tensioner.

outside shops are fine for certain repairs.
but technical repairs, the dealer techs are more qualified,
and also cheaper, ( since we are familiar with the vehicles)
we go directly to the problem and repair or replace the failed part.

Check the induction system. One of the connections may not be secure, or the connection at the intake may not be tight. Assuming all is tight, check the air cleaner element, and make sure it is not coming apart. If you can get to the primary intake location ahead of the filter, check for leaves, or a piece paper or some other object caught in there.

circulate to a GM broker and ask for a image reproduction of it. yet lots of the time that could be a broken cord on the starter from the ignition or loose cable on the starter or the starter itself. sometime it would desire to be the impartial secure practices change additionally, that is located on the steerage columb, purely decrease than the sprint.and would have a pair of screws and a few wires working to it. This change is to maintain the motor vehicle from commencing in force or opposite for secure practices resons. have exciting!

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

LEAVE IT THERE WITH THEM SO THAT THEY CAN FIND THE PROBLEM FOR YOU, IT WILL BE A LOT BETTER THAN JUST REPLACING PART AFTER PART AND NOT DOING ANY GOOD.

Sounds to me like you have a vacuum line off somewhere. You can raise your hood and have someone "lightly" accellerate it for you while you listen where it is coming from.
