When I was a child, my neighbor got all moms bread bags because she made weaved plastic rugs to go on the floor. If the bread bags were sunbeam, the rugs were yellow, if they were butternut, the rugs were a blue color. She weaved them by hand. She was very poor, lived in an old house with a big front porch and everyone sat on the portch. I loved to go to her house and sit in the swing. I think its an art that was lost because no one believes in making bread bag rugs anymore. Anyone ever see this done or know how to do it?

When I was a kid my grandmother cut them in strips and crocheted them in to all kinds of things, hats, purses etc. I imagine you could twist them up and braid them too.
