foofy is right, she got the answer. x=-3 and y=4. Not so sure how though....

3x - 2y = -17
then multiply the x + 4y = 13 by -3 to cancel out the x's

so

3x - 2y = -17
-3x - 12y = -39

and then add the like variables to get

0x - 14y = -56
Then divide by -14
-56/-14 equals

y=4

So then

3x -2y = -17
3x - 2(4) = -17
3x - 8 = -17
add the 8 to the other side
3x = -9
divide by 3

x=-3

2*(3x-2y=-17) => 6x-4y=-34 so
6x-4y=-34
x+4y=13
7x = -21
x = -2 Now plug -2 in for x in either of the equations and solve for y
