Monica Seles was stabbed by a crazed Steffi Graf fan. She came back and played the game a couple years later but she was never as good as before the stabbing. Steffi graf went on to become perhaps the best women's singles player ever but you have to wonder if Monica would't of had Steffi's success if it weren't for the stabbing.

Monica Seles, she had the tennis world in the palm of her hand, and was on her way to breaking records, and then she was stabbed, and it was never the same. Her impact on the game was much like the Williams sisters, and now we just wonder what could have been. She came back and was a good player, but it just wasn't quite the same.

That would be none other than then 8-time Grandslam champion Monica Seles. Despite being stabbed, Seles would come back a few years later to claim her 9th Slam title at the 1996 Australian Open.
