when i started my computer today, everything was okay eccept my desktop background, which was totally black, and i couldn't change it

If you can still use the computer, go to
Start-Programs-Accessories-SystemTools-SystemRestore and restore the computer to a date earlier then the date your computer messed up.

Balba...let us know what steps you've taken to try and fix. If you haven't done anything yet, right click on your desktop, go to Properties, then to the desktop tab. See if you can choose on of the background pics, then 'accept'.

chances are you have the same virus that i have on my laptop
do you go on AIM?
because i recently (dumbly) clicked that new virus that said
"hey do you mind if i put this picture of us on facebook"
now my computer doesn't have a desktop and i can't fix it
sadly, i don't know what to do other than bring it in to some place and have them fix it
