They are gritty, realistic "slices of life" from a culture that he mainstream population is not usually privy to, therefore they find it riviting to step into a good actor's shoes and experience the feeling a person would feel in that situation without actually experiencing the danger of the situation; after all, it is only a movie.

Well the movies are like people coming from bad hoods and doing somthing positive with their life like in stomp the yard, Columbus Short is sent to university and stuff to clean up his act after his bro was shot. It all ends with positve endings
