Many people still hang out their wash. There has been a steady decrease in the numbers of clotheslines across the U.S. but some still like the smell and feel of hung ouit wash. One thing that has contributed to the use of dryers is the time factor. People rush around a lot and don't want their laundry out all day on public display..

My mom does, even during the winter. There is nothing like the smell of clothes that were hung outside to dry.

There are some newer neighbourhoods which, for some strange reason, won't allow clotheslines. As you said, it is greener since you don't use any energy running the dryer.

I do too, I love the winter days when I bring the clothes in they smell fresh, I love the sun for bleaching my whites whiter than white, and the sun for bleaching out stains. And you are right a lot cheaper. I have a dryer but I very rarely use it. It was bought for me , so I could´t really refuse it. It comes in handy if the kids need their jeans dry off , but that´s about all I have ever used it for . Oh no , I have had a few towels dried in it , but it´s just not the same as the out door freshness

Lots of people in my neighbourhood hang out their wash. Personally I don't have the time but you are right wash that blows dry in the breeze has a really nice smell.

Beware though some upscale &snotty neighbourhoods have local bylaws in place against clothes lines because these people don't like to admit they have dirty clothes too. and heaven forbid if they saw a pair of scivies blowing in the wind.

We don't have a dryer so we always hang the laundry outside to dry. If the weather's bad, we have line hanging in the basement.

I certainly do and it has cut my electic bill.

I hang them out until they are dry and then bring them in and put them in the dryer with a dryer sheet on a cold air cycle. They loose that stiff feeling and come out nice and soft.

Saves money on your electic bill and also is a lot better for the environment!

I have 2 kids and a husband, I definitely hang my clothes on the line. Otherwise it would take days to finish.
