i have bought a light fittin and there is only blue and brown on the light fitting but in the ceiling there is blue brown and green(earth) so does anybody know what i do with the earth wire?

The green ground wire is very important for safety. I have not seen a light fixture that hasn't provided for a ground connection. Check the one you bought closely before you take it back.

Sounds like you are a novice. You have to be careful and make sure that there is no electricity going through the fixture. The green wire is the ground wire. The first thing you should do is return your fixture to the store to get one that also has a green wire or a green screw to attach your house's green wire to..

the green or earth wire is a ground,
theres no need to attach it to any thing on a light, just bend it back and tape it up,

all light fitting's are very simple to wire ,
because you can wire , them any old way , and they still work,
the earth wire , well i never use it , i cut it off
