...that people who disagree with the Administration or military leaders are being called "traitors?" What happened to "I disagree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it?"

I entirely agree.

At one time I was led to believe that the US prided itself on Freedom of Speech. Now it appears you can only have that if your speech concurrs directly with the current administration.

The rest of the world is watching you in utter bafflement at how a country that was founded by disagreeing with it's "overseas" government and setting up it's own rights, has now apparently forgotten them. But I suppose that's to be expected if your current President has done his best to trample over the Constitution and dodge the Bill of Rights when it's suited him.

Can you hear that whirring sound? I believe it's the men who signed that Constitution spinning in their graves.

What frightens me is that the warmongers don't have any problem with the way their government handled 9/11. It's as if our government did no wrong, and there is nothing to be accountable for. Shouldn't these war lovers be demanding better protection hear on home soil. Planes where flying up to 80 minutes after controllers knew they changed flight path. Rules, protocol, that they practice all the time, call for engagement 10-15 after deviation. And the plane being taken out if no response (like flight 93)

Real "traitors" are hung. Who actually labled these traitors? Although we have problems in this country with people who tend to think in one direction only, that doesn't make them right. Differing opinions are actually a given here. And it is very clear by Iraq, that we will fight for these rights. This is something this country has ALWAYS done.

This is nothing new is it?

Political opinions are always very polarizing given that most views either fall into "left" wing or "right" wing ideology.

Be grateful if you live in a country where you do have the right to say what you want without actually being charged with treason. If you are just the subject of name-calling from your detractors, then you just need to have thicker skin.

No, but it frightens me that so many of you actually believe that bs propoganda.

If everyone who disagreed with this administration VERY VOCALLY were branded traitors, then all the libs, many of the moderates and some of the very conservatives in this country would be branded as traitors.

smart...that is laughable at best. 50% of the country would have been arrested by now.

what century...you need to take off your tin foil hat and stop listening to Michael Moore-on. What a crock of conspiracy theory crap! We have NEVER engaged a hijacked plane.

The problem with disagreeing with the administration DURING WARTIME is that it divides the nation and emboldens those who are trying to kill Americans. During peacetime all is fair, but during wartime against the terrorists, the citizenry should stand behind the leaders that were duly elected to carry out foreign policy. When the burglar is trying to break into your house and your father is trying to defend you, that is not the time to start screeching at him about gun control.

No it doesn't frighten me, it saddens me.

That and other reasons is why I got out of the USA and moved to a country that is emerging from unfounded accusations to what we once held so dear. They are still years away from that high ideal, but sooner or later they'll get there as we change into what we once hated.

Peace

What you mention along with Bush's critics being labeled as having "Bush Derangement Syndrome" is right out of Stalin's playbook, it is very unsettling indeed.

That idea was destroyed by the Patriot Act. Now, disagreeing with the government is grounds for arrest without trial, and habeas corpus is history.
