Maybe you're right, here in Italy it's not everywhere dangerouse and you can choise where to go if you have babies! I think parents have to be responsible ,choising good places. I really don't want to have risks with my baby but I couldn't go everywhere couse of that law. Ireland is so beautiful and pubs are one of the most famous things to visit... my husband and our friend couldn't have a bier !

It's because of the fact that many parents with drinking problems used to take their children into pubs with them, sometimes until very late at night, it was not good for the kids to see this or be there and the other people in the pubs were not always very nice either .... safer for the children when there are drunks around. It's a pity you didn't check this out before you went to Ireland!

It's not a stupid law, it makes good sense. We don't want our kids growing up alcoholics, nor do we want them exposed to drunken behavour.
