I lived with an propane fueled "on-demand" tankless water heater for several years. It was perfect for that situation... supply hot water to the galley (kitchen) and head (bathroom) without WASTING water or fuel.
I don't think a tankless heater would be efficient for running a multi zone base-board heater system though...
Good Luck.

Some people swear by tankless units, others swear at them. The initial expense is high. If you have hard water, don't get one. Make sure you know someone who does repair work on them. Many Plumbers will install them but do not do sevice work due to the complexity of the. They are not boilers so do not try running baseboard from them.

the electrical powered tankless will shop you funds by ability of no longer heating water while it is not getting used like once you're at paintings. the only downside is they require greater complicated upkeep. The tubes interior the tankless water heater are small and ought to grow to be clogged with mineral deposits in case you have annoying water. consequently this is reported that they be wiped clean a minimum of as quickly as a 300 and sixty 5 days. in case you have clearly comfortable water or a water softener you would be ok for a pair of years. the fee is frequently approximately double for a tankless once you first purchase it
