i swear ever since i graduated high school i totally lost my artistic creativity and i cant come up with anything.
basically, i want to create a sign for a little girl's room that will still be appropriate and she will like when she is older. shes only two, but i dont want it to be babyish. her mother and i are best friends and we are very spontaneous and unique, so i just want it to be really colorful and kind of different.
help me come up with a way to do it?
oh, and the only thing im ruling out is a big wooden plaque thing where i just like, paint her name on there.
im thinking of just doing it on foamboard and framing it.
thanks<3!!

Well, most little girls are into Princes and Princesses, Castles and such, why not form it into a "Coat of Arms"? You don't have to follow the STRICT rule of authenticity. Just Do what she likes, her favorite colors, her favorite animals, her favorite hobbies. As she gets older you can just change out the inside shield designs to something older. When she hits 14-18 you can make it authentic, and stick with the official family crest. Plus it's fun to make. I wish more art classes would use this idea, it teaches history along with family pride and of course artistic talent.

Bet you've "lost" your creativity because you're worried about the future now. In high school we tend to live for the day too much, and lose sight of the future, and once we become for responsible (or have responsibility thrust upon us), we lose sight of the carefree side of our personalities.

That said, how about something like "[Cara's] digs," and have a pic of a pail and bucket with sand... childish and cute for now, and later she'll figure out digs means "home" or "place."

Kinda lame and obscure. Sorry. Hope you get your spark back!

my cousin once painted this awesome abstract thing. It was a happy flower and stars with a big dark wave coming in with everything reflected all dark and evil in it. maybe that's a little to emo for a little girl. reflections (that are different from the original image for some reason) are always awesome though.
