My laptop gets really hot on the bottom to the point where it will just shut off completely. I always do disk cleanups and try not to overload it with extra programs. Why does it do this? It is very irritating and my warranty has already expired, so i can't bring it in .

It does this after SHORT period of time using it. I don't have it on lots and it will just shut right off and gets very very hot within 10 minutes of being on!

My lapt-top does that all the time. But it just over heats because of the little fan thing in my computer... I usually close my laptop and let it cool off before I continue, so it doesn't shut down on me. Sorry, if what I said doesn't help you! Good luck~

Try cleaning out the ducts with canned air, dust will block the air from colling off the laptop. Do you use it on your lap, or on a rug? Blocking the vents, as noted, will make it overheat. Laptops cool best on a hard flat surface, like a desk or table. There are cooling stands you can buy, if you still have trouble. I once ran a hot little laptop on a cake rack, just to get it up off the table and keep the air moving.

My laptop gets very hot on the bottom when it is in my lap and the cooling fan on the bottom is not able to exhaust the heat off. Best bet is to go to office depot or office max or staples and get a laptop base it is metal and holds your computer on a slight angle but there are openings for the exhaust fans. Also try to not use the battery to much it causes it to get really hot. good luck with this

when you are using it make sure the air vents on the bottom do not get covered or blocked, setting your lappy on your knee is a bad thing to do as this can easily block the vents, set it on a table or use a flat piece of wood or metal to set it on so the vents are clear, also buy a laptop cooler to set it on. you could also buy a can of compressed air in a computer store and try cleaning it out by blasting air into the vents to clear the dust out of it as this can block the air from circulating in the lappy. also check to see if the cpu fan is working as this is most important for keeping the proccessor cool, they can overheat in a very short period of time

Is it an old laptop? Mine also gets hot but its a expensive and new one. Mine barely ever gets to the point of shutting off. At some points it will burn my legs if its in my lap.

this can be a serious problem.. if your cooling fan is exhausting air at the bottom and placed it on a table, the air has no way out but inside your laptop. Check where the air is coming out.. you need to let the heat go out of your laptop. 2nd, have your cooling fan checked.. it may not be working.

IP = Internet Protocol and is assigned by the Internet service provider / router. Your IP address will change if you use a different Internet gateway (such as a public Starbucks). Some Internet providers even use dynamic IP where IP changes on a regular basis in the same location.

Strangely enough, you're not supposed to use your laptop on your lap for very long. My laptop gets ridiculously hot if I leave it on my lap or a soft surface like the couch for even an hour.

It is the battery that's getting hot. It could be overcharging or battery could be bad. If you generally plug in the laptop, I recommend removing the battery and just run it off the plug. Only use battery when traveling.
