They are one of the most overrated programs in college football this season, with a powerhouse schedule and high expectations, and -- sure, they'll probably beat the service academies like they do every year (every team schedules cupcakes) but you have to remember something, this is largely HIS team this year, after having won the past couple seasons with Ty Willingham's players. Knowing that Brady Quinn was leaving after last season, he's had two years to bring in a talented quarterback (and they're out there -- Ohio State and many other teams have talented young QBs) and he brought in this Clausen kid? Plus, his offensive line seems like it's made of Swiss cheese. What's up with the talent pool there? Being an offensive-minded coach, we've given him the benefit of the doubt after having questionable defenses the past two years (especially in the secondary); we figured he just didn't know what to do, defensively, but WHAT IS UP WITH THAT OFFENSE? IT SUCKS!!

Well, you can't really expect the offense to be that great after losing key players like Brady Quinn and Jeff Samardzija. Like someone said before it's a rebuilding year, at least I hope so.
Actually, as far as Jimmy Clausen goes, he was one of the top quarterback prospects, so I don't blame Weis for getting him. When he was in high school, he never lost a game while starting and won three state championships. His high school career was quite impressive. It's not like Weis just settled for him. It was a big deal that Notre Dame got Clausen.
I do agree that the offensive line is terrible. They were pretty bad last year, also. A quarterback shouldn't be getting sacked that many times. That's not even mentioning how many penalties they've gotten.
Being Notre Dame fan all my life, (I live in South Bend) I really have never seen them play as bad as they have been. The Georgia Tech was the worst opener in school history.
Anyway, back to your original question - yes, Weis probably should get fired if you think about when they fired Willingham but he can't because he's on contract until 2015.
It's definitely not a good year for the Irish, and I know that there are many people out there that are very happy about it, haha.

What's up with these polls that say Notre Dame recruits well. Sounds like the media has its head buried up Weis' a** again. Here at LSU probably our entire second string defense and offense would start for Notre Dame.
As far as Weis hitting the road I don't think so. With his 10 year contract the buy-out clause probably is so huge a sum that it would make the Pope f*rt on collection Sunday.

Between an 0-3 start and a loss to Michigan, I feel fairly certain that Charlie Weis has earned a canning at the end of the season.
Not to mention that the loss to Michigan was a SHUTOUT. I'm a little surprised that Notre Dame doesn't go ahead and can him now.

That's probably not a bad idea, except for the fact that Notre Dame gave the guy a long-term big-money contract. ND has to decide if they want to be stuck buying that contract out.

This is a rebuilding year. If he can't turn the team around in during his 5th year (his first year with just his players) then you can think about firing him. It is a big step to go from NFL to NCAA. You don't really recruit in the NFL. Maybe he could shake up his staff a little...

Well since they fired Ty in HIS third year there after a winning season, one would think so!
However,Charlie is God in the football world, you're not allowed to speak ill of him..
They're stuck with him for 10 years!

Apparently Notre Shame has more patience with white coaches than black coaches, and Charlie Weiss has more patience with white quarterbacks than black quarterbacks.
