I'm not sure where you live in the world, but I live in Canada and we are taxed more than the U.S. I don't mind the high levels of taxes here because I feel it should act as sort of an income redistribution in ways, but also betters our infrastructure, education and health care systems. However, I think our politicians could make better use of these tax dollars (spend more wisely).

In the US the government is running a large deficit, which will increase if the economy slumps as expected next year. We are either under taxed or overextended as a nation. This does not mean that I want to pay more taxes, but that I recognize that it is a matter of paying now or paying later. If my taxes were less then I could buy more. I do not have anything in mind, but I am saving for a new car.
