Also for your information: Salt is a nutrient that is mined from the ground as they do at the Redmond Salt Mines just out of Utah or is mined from the sea as they do in the Caribbean Sea Salt Company and The Grain and Salt Society of Coastal France . Depending on where you get your salt from makes it neutral, acidic or basic. All Natural Sea Salt is the best type of salt for the human body. If you purchase it in it's most natural state, it can have over 80 trace minerals that the human body needs for health. There are only a few salt mines in the world that produce salt of that nature. Depending on where those mines are and the type of ground or part of the sea that the salt is mined in is how many natural trace minerals are in that salt. Depending on how they process it before you get it, is how many of those trace elements are left in that salt. 'All Natural Sea Salt' can be written on any salt bottle by any manufacturer because all salt is natural and ALL salt comes from the sea. Even the salt that is mined from the ground in America is from the sea because a huge Ancient Sea used to cover what is now knows as America. It is what they do with it at the processing and manuracturing plants that makes the difference. Salt in its natural state is not white but grayish in color. The salt you see that is white like table salt, especiall the salt from the ground and not the sea has been processed on slabs of cement and since salt grinds cement, particles of that cement gets ground up also. Therefore, they bleach it to hide those particles, which also destroys the natural trace elements of the salt that your body so desperately needs. So the salt is no good nutritionally for you, it is only good for flavoring the food you eat. The best salt you can use is the one that is processed with the least amount of manufacturing. That is salt in its truest form with all the trace elements entact and no debree ground up in the salt like you get from over processing. There are just a few salt mines that produce the best salt. One of them has over 80 trace elements in their 'genuine' all natural sea salt. That is the Celtic Sea Salt Company from France and it can be purchased in any health food store. It is one of the most expensive salts to purchase because of all the trace elements but I think it also tastes the best. The second one I like is mined by the RealSalt company in Utah, also in health food stores but I've also found that in some grocery stores that have 'all natural' sections. It has over 50 trace elements. The third company that is also really good is the Carribean Sea Salt Company. They are a Kosher Sea Salt Company.

Hope that helps.

depending on the acid and base from which the salt is formed, the acidity or basicity of the salt depends. If the salt is formed from a stong acid and weak base, the resulting aquesous solution of salt obtained by dissolving it in water will be acidic.

And in the same way you can relate to salts from:

Stong acid + Weak base
Weak acid + stong base ,etc, etc

The key word you should look up is "hydrolysis". If a cation is hydrolysed, the salt will be acidic. If it's an anion that reacts with water in this way, the salt will be alkaline. By no means are all anions and cations hydrolysed.

well the amont of acidic or basic radicals present in the salt determine its property. when acid and base react if
if both of them neutralise completely then its neutral
if some acidic ions are left it is acidic
if some base ions are left it is base
