The difference between a tampon and tampax.. is basically.. nothing! Tampax is a BRAND of tampons. There are also other brands of tampons such as Natracare (the healthiest!), Playtex, OB, Kotex, etc. Natracare tampons are the healthiest because they're made out of 100% cotton so they have NO risk of TSS (toxic shock syndrome!).
Regular marketed tampons (Playtex, Tampax, Kotex, OB) actually bleach their tampons white and they have chemicals in them such as Dioxin and Rayon. Don't believe me? It's on the FDA's website!
You can insert a tampon by unwrapping your tampon and then hold the applicater with your dominant hand. Use your free hand to seperate the lips/labia of the vulva. Grab the finger-grips with your thumb and middle finger. Ease the tampon into your vagina while angling it towards your bottom. Most people don't know this but the vagina actually lies flat and it doesn't go up. Continue angling your tampon and pushing it in towards your tailbone until the finger-grips are right outside of your vagina and the bigger tube is completely inside of you. Then with your index/pointer finger push the skinny tube into the bigger tube which is already inside of you. Once the skinny tube is all the way in then you pull the applicater out with the finger-grips and toss it in the trash. The string will be left hanging outside of your body, so just tuck that into your underwear.
If the applicater doesn't go in all the way and you pop open your tampon then it will be very uncomfortable so make sure you get it in all of the way. You might also have better success by using Playtex SlimFit tampons and using a little bit of lubricant on the applicater to help it slide in. After you get used to using a regular tampon you should deffinately consider switching to the safer brand (Natracare!) as it is better for your body. Maybe after a few years of using tampons you could switch to a menstrual cup! Way healthier and environmentally friendly. Good luck!

OK honey, i have some instructions for you.
1.Relax your muscles.
2.for your first time get in front of a mirror, look for the middle hole, the biggest hole.
3. Put in the tampon in. Do not put in the applicator.
4.Look for better instructions on the back of the tampon box.
Oh, and Tampax is a brand, tampons are the actual thing.

Put it in the middle hole. This may sound wierd but put a finger between you legs and feel around. It will be the only hole that you could fit you finger into, or you could get a mirror.
There might be some slight discomfort the first time you put one in, but it shouldn't hurt. If it hurts after the tampon was inserted, then it isn't in correctly. take it out and try again.
Tampon is the product. Tampax is just a company that makes tampons.

when you put it in just relax, think of something nice like what you are doing that day or something
it shouldnt hurt as long as you are relaxed and ont once it is in correctly
also if you read the instructions that come in the box they will help loads and tampax ones give you loadsa advice too.
tampax is a brand of tampons there is no differencein the actual product.

Using a tampon doesn't hurt at all. When you first buy a packet of tampons there is a set of instructions that shows you exactly how to use then.
Lol, tampax is a company that makes tampons.
