Yes, I think it would be better for them to be charged with the disappearance and/or murder of Madeleine - simply being named as suspects means this is hanging over their heads and as seen, mud sticks. If a trial was held, it would mean that all the Police evidence would come out and not just "leaks" to the press and gossip and speculation. Also, if they didn't have anything to do with Madeleine's disappearance, then it's bad that the focus is not on searching for her, but on the parents as the potential murderers of an innocent child.

The trouble is the police won't charge them until they have enough evidence, so unless they know something we don't, according to the press releases they never will be charged.
Or did I get that wrong?

Of course - especially as the Courts have to prove them guilty beyond reasonable doubt. They do not have to prove themselves to be innocent. It would certainly clear their name or otherwise.

they're guilty of neglect.
It is an offence under section 1 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 to neglect or abandon a child under the age of 16 for whom a parent or carer has responsibility.
whether they/or one of them is found guilty of murder...........
guess we'll all have to wait & see.
but they SHOULD without doubt be prosecuted & punished for neglect.
if madeline was abducted,
who's fault is that?
