My friend has one - and to be honest its a bit like being inside a biscuit tin as it rattles so much!

In reference to Adam D, I think you will find Suzuki where named manufacturer of the year in 2006, there new Swift was named car of the year around the globe, they are one of the top names in bikes and outboard motors. They have one of the best reliability figures in the car industry and there knowledge of 4x4 vehicles is by far one of the greatest. Suzuki was the first to supply an affordable 4x4 vehicle to the UK market, this being the Vitara, then afterwards Toyota and Honda decided it was a good idea. Now every manufacturer has one. My mother had 3 Vitara's, 3 Grand Vitara's and finaly an XL-7 Vitara, not once in the 13 years did any of them brake down! My Father now has a new style Grand Vitara Diesel 5 door, with 20,000 miles on the clock it broke down, the engine let go with a bit of a bang, how ever the diesel engine in the new vitara's is from a Renault! So that would be the great french angineering letting the japs down! Yes theyre cheap, but by hec are they reliable and tough! Buy one, you'll love it!

Vitara or Grand Vitara? Grand Vitara is bigger, and more comfy. Only problem i ever had with any suzuki car is that the reverse gear can be a bit sticky, when trying to get it to go in gear, usually when you are in a hurry!! Can't fault suzuki other than that though, and i have had a grand vitara, jimney, and ignis. The jeeps are usually fun to drive. Good luck.

Go for a toyota rav4, It can guarantee u more years than other cars like a vitara. And It retains its value far better than a vitara. The vitara is also as mentioned above very small. I've seen it and compared it with the Rav4. Hope this helps!

I got a 200 vitara with covertable tops I love it its got power everything bigger tires wheels (standard) it has the 2.0 engine a 5 speed and has 4 wheel drive it doesn't rattle yet ( I hope) goes threw snow and it 4x4"s pretty good and gets good gas mileage (about 25-35mpg depending on road conditions) but with a 2.0 engine it doesn't have too much power when 4 wheeling you get that rougher ride like a jeep and finding dress up parts is hard overall id give it a 8 on a 1-10 scale good luck

Avoid Suzuki all together. There is a reason nobody has one. They are unreliable, uncomfortable and unsafe and do not have much consumer appeal. The only reason they are still on the market is because of the warranty put on them.

Suspension is very firm. 4wd very basic. Unless you really need a jeep there are better 4x4 choices

fuel economy is good by the standards of 4x4s
insurance is low by the standards of 4x4s
top-notch Japanese reliabilty
as with most Japanese cars, security is much less impressive, though
