Buying a car in the US?

Question

Me and a couple of guys (UK citizens) are thinking of coming over to the US and driving east to west over a couple of months.

Does anyone know how we would go about buying a car and getting insurance for a few months only.

First thing you do when you get in is to go to the AAA. that's the Auto Club. They will provide you with a international license and have all the info that you need. They will also provide you with maps, insurance and tips for places to stay and eat. The AAA card also entitles you to discounts at almost any place you stop. All this for about $40 bucks. One of the better deals any where.
Buying a car or van on the east coast and bringing it west is usually a good Idea. Cars are cheaper on the East coast and sell for more in Calif. so that should make it easier to sell when you get there and recoup most of your money.
As far as where to buy a car...
EBay has an amazing amount of cars. I have purchased several through their service. Make sure to run a vehicle history record to protect you from lemons, cars that have been wrecked or had the mileage turned back. Its easy to do and can provide some peace of mind.
I have lots of tips on these subjects. I have purchased many cars over the years,(about 75 at last count) and Know many tricks and money saving ideas.

As alternate Ideas think about renting or driving a courier car. Many times people need cars delivered from coast to coast. But... these cars are usually on a schedual and would probably not provide the time that you are going to need.
