hi mate, the cheapest Nvidia GeForce 8600GT i have found is from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-058-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=912
this is a excellent card, and is better than some guys think, especially if you use 2 of them in s.l.i configuration
the core clock of 540mhz is quite fast for any card and its memory of 256MB GDDR3 Memory running at 1400MHz is very good
the memory bandwidth of : 22.4GB/s is not too bad(around the same as a 7600gt) and with pixel and shader model 4.0 this card is ready for high defenition and direct x 10 gaming
runing two of these cards will give your p.c a graphics and gaming performance on par with a single 8800gts,but saving you around £100
the geforce 8500 and 8400 are not too bad either but are limited on their overall speed, especially the 8400,the lower 8 series cards are more aimed towards the guys just using their p.c for media tasks but want the added advantage of direct x 10 visuals
any problems let me know
good luck mate!
