The name is fine although an up-and-coming trendy name. I know it more for boys than girls in general. I prefer the Kye spelling unless you are Asian (as in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc - not Asian Indian).

We have 2 Kai's in my daughter's Prep class at school (she's 5) and my son has 1 Kai and 1 Kye in his daycare class (he's 2) so moral of this is, way too many Kai's/Kye's !!!!
I don't hate it I just don't like its commonality and I do find it a little blunt for a name. Either spelling is okay, kye is a little more interesting to look at though.

I think both of them are not that fancy... Why not use Cai instead of Kye or Kai and if it is not okay with you why not use Cai as nickname and use Caira as real name. Anyways it will still rhyme with eye.

I've seen the spelling Kai loads of times-the other way would be much more individual.
