I just dropped my laptop on the floor, (by accident, sowwi laptop lol).
http://www.microlanbh.com/Portals/Default/Laptops/Dell%206400.jpg I will describe what's hapenned according to this picture. On the left hand side, on the screen, level with the 'Dell' logo, there is a rubber 'bubble'. Under there, where the metal is joined to the plastic it has opened up. My laptop won't stay put when it's screen is tilted further than 100 degrees without the support of some paper to stop it doing so. Also there is rubbing out like material that is coming out when the opening is well opened. Is this stuff safe? Is it ok to leave the laptop as it is? And what shall I do to stop this from getting worse and how can I keep my laptop screen as I want it?
Please answer as many questions as you can using your knowledge. If what your saying is a guess, please state that. Thank you sooo much in advance.
By the way, my laptop is 2 years old.

I have no idea what's that rubbery material is supposed to be. You should really take your laptop to the Dell customer center or any laptop / desktop repair shop; they may be able to do something about it. For the time being, keep your laptop screen straight and don't try to rotate it or anything. Sorry for saying this, but Dell laptops are very brittle and you must really feel fortunate that your laptop is still working (or is it?).
Anyway, good luck!

P.S. Next time you get a laptop, make sure that it's an HP or Toshiba, they are very strong.

U really DO NEED to get it fixed. If you've damaged the surround to the screen, and the screen itself is OK, should not cost too much to repair. MIGHT need new top casing (bits of plastic)

IF ou've damaged the screen it WILL be expensive. Continuing to use it with damaged screen casing will put excessive strain on the screen and could cause the screen to crack later on.
