Have they worked too hard to be "politically correct" in their program?

It's called a rebuilding year. Notre Dame doesn't have the benefit of rewarding top high school recruits with cars and houses like USC does so we have to mold some young players into top college performers.
In a year or two, people will feel dumb for the criticism they gave ND now. Claussen is a Heisman quality guy, the Irish just need an offensive line now. Let's hope Weis makes a supreme effort to get some good guys up front.
Also, look at the schedule we're playing our 1st 8 games compared to other D1 schools. Most of them have the pleasure of playing a Sam Houston State or Western Carolina while we actually have to play REAL teams like Georgia Tech and Penn State. And people criticize US for scheduling Duke and Navy? With a young QB and just a young team in general it's next to impossible to pull off victories against top 25 teams, especially ones that are on the road.
And first winless season? C'mon be realistic. Navy and Duke are gimme wins, probably Stanford too. They might pull a win against Air Force, cause they got them at home. You would pretty much moronic to not pick ND in 3 of their last 4 games. Man, it's funny our gimme teams our from the ACC and everyone else's are like Tennessee-Chattanooga or Furman.
As far as political correctness, they have tried too hard to silence all critics. But the media's politcal INcorrectness is so biasedly based where it's almost to the point like what other option do the Irish take? We schedule USC and Michigan every year but if we lose like we just did everyone goes ballistic and makes a judgement without looking at the big picture. However, if we schedule Navy and Duke like we just have now it's "Oh God look at those Irish, scheduling those cupcakes at the end of the season to try and muster a BCS berth". So I'd like to ask you how would you solve the politcal incorrectness?
Even though Charlie won't admit it, this is a rebuilding year. Why the hell else would he start his future QB the 2nd game of the season?

The insults against USC by Lights Out aren't warranted, but basically Notre Dame got hurt by graduation. Almost all of the important parts of their offense from last season are gone, especially at the skill positions. No Quinn, no Walker, no McKnight, no Samardzija, so they can't move the ball. They've never had great defenses, because Notre Dame doesn't tend to recruit the two things you can't teach - size and speed.

So they can't score and they can't stop anyone. And that's not good when your next stretch has teams who right now are a combined 13-1. Right now, I would say that they shouldn't be favored to win any game left on their schedule, and that includes Duke and Stanford, both of whom won yesterday.

If Notre Dame was worried about being politically correct, they wouldn't have fired Ty Willingham.

Going into this week, I was picking them to win 5 games. But now I don't think they will be favored the rest of the year. The only game that they may win this year might be the loser of the Navy/Duke game next weekend.

So, yes, you may be right... 0 and 12. Great, now they will end up joining my Big East.

No way, they just lost so many experienced starters, and didn't give their backups experience. Their offensive line is in shambles and they don't have the receivers or running back to make up for it.
Not to mention they lost to 3 really good teams. When they play buffalo or citadel maybe they'll start winning more. They'll be much better at the end of the year because of their tough schedule, but they'll probably only win 4 or 5 games.

Stop worrying everybody because ND is out of contention early. This year u will not be watching good ND football. It is a rebuilding year for the Irish, so stop saying fire Weiss because firing the head coach is not always the first solution. They dont have any experience at the leader position (quarterback) and dont have a solid defense. They might need one more OK recruiting class and a little more experience and they are set for a good year next year.
They might win a couple games this year.
