Oh, yes. That is so true. All our science has lead us back to our beginnings!

And we call this advancement? And evolution? Psshaw!

I wish things were really so simple. What you are suggesting is a U turn which it isn't.What's happening is that with opening of our minds and thus attitudes, humans have begun to cast aside their stereo typed views or assumptions and are prepared for a Wholistic Approach. Most medicines are still derived from natural resources and where such resources are not available, these are synthesized organically or by such other means but their characteristics are same as of those found in nature. So to eat a pill or a root(similar properties) is an attitudinal change and nor a reversal of science.Who else can understand it better than you who have seen the world so much and yet remaining the same(at least in many ways or parts). All the best.

There are so many. Valerian has been used around the world for centuries. During the middle ages it was even a perfume.
During world war one it was given to soldiers for stress and anxiety.
In Europe it is a comman over the counter non-prescription sedative for insomnia ect..
It is reativvely safe: but as with any food or meds, side effects can occur. its not recommended during pregnancy or for people with low blood pressure or those with hypoglycemia(low blood sugar). Of course one should be under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.

I've always thought that some of those old remedies were probably good. It's sort of the trend now to go with organically grown and produced food. Maybe it's a good think looking to nature before you pop a pill.

I believe that humans possess the ability to heal themselves, and some are able to tap into it, and others need 'helpers' -- such as pills or potions or roots

But, when it is time for us to go, it doesn't matter what methods are used to keep us alive, we die anyway

Very clever...seems we come full circle at times, usually because we forgot how effective home/local treatments were...or, worse yet, discarded traditional knowledge for more "scientific" knowledge. This is funny, if not pathetic. Good one. !
