There are a cup of tricks you can use it to make boring topics interesting;
1. relate it to more interesting and exciting aspect of life (such as ipods or even popular figures in the world like newton, churchill and so on but make sure you can relate them very closely)
2. put some wits or something that would give crowd a few laughs. that take away people from bordom and expect more from that topic than switching off their brain.
3. may be you just need to target it to the right crowd :). some might find maths very boring but others won't.
have fun

A person's writting skills are key on making a boring topic interesting, but also to give in your opinion. I find that when people give their own opinion you can see their point of view and how the see things. I find that very interesting. Also you can find links. For example, if you find Geography boring, make links to geography that interest you. Like maybe a location near you that you enjoy, you can write about that. It's all about making connections and expressing yourself properly.

bill is right, editing is the key. First get it all onto the paper. Don't worry about how it will turn out, just get all of the ideas out. Then clean it up and revise it. Then put it away for 48 hours and get it out again. Keep revising, adding and subtracting. And remember, you're only trying to appeal to the curious reader. Someone who doesn't even like to read, or who is not a curious person, won't be interested no mater what you do.

I did mine similar to Martin Luther Kings 'I Have A Dream' speech. My dream was that any form of cancer could be cured - A* Thank you very much! Ha ha, but it depends what your passionate about. Find that, and you've found your A* ----> Good luck! I know how stressful they can be, but think of it this way; it'll be over in a matter of minutes, but the positive long term affects will last a life time(:

Have you ever heard an Arnold Toynbee lecture? Anything can be interesting if presented properly, in light of the relationship to humanity, to history, motivation, background, development, and so on. This is like the "stupid question" concept answer - nothing is boring, it is the limitations of the perceiver as much as the limitations of the presenter.

I disagree with the poster above. Use adverbs and adjectives sparingly, and paint a word picture by using vivid verbs and nouns. Don't tell your reader, show him instead.
As others have told you, rewrite, revise, edit. Start by painting a broad picture, then add detail. If you have a word limit, stick to it; editors appreciate writers who meet space requirements and don't exceed them.
You also could post this question in News & events ->Journalism to get more input from professional writers and editors.

Make your voice interesting. Add cool details and facts about the topic that noone would know but is pretty cool. Interesting words titles. Details in a fun form.

In writing, it's all in how you relate the topic to your readers. If you know your readers well enough, it's easy as pie.
In conversation though... I don't really like those that "talk with their hands." It's just disconcerting for me I guess. I'm always thinking they're going to hit me, or hit something or someone else; and they just look funny doing it.
