That's for sure! The first thing one must do to have direct access or contact with God, even Lord Jesus is to accept His invitation;
Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Eph 2:18 For through Lord Jesus Christ we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Eph 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
That's why if you're familiar of the disciples prayer in Matthew 6, that prayer taught to us by Lord Jesus can only be prayed by those who are true believers and followers of Christ Jesus! Amen.
Once you have accepted the gift of salvation from God, John 3:16, surely you can have direct access to Mighty Power God in heaven, the Creator of all things, Gen 1:1, John 1:3.

Of course, don't you read the classified in the news paper? For $5.50 a minute Esmerelda will translate you through on a direct line to Angels (maybe even a God!) telling you about you love life, career, and health. It's a bargain price for accurate, ligitimate information. Go on call, after all God is just waiting around to tell you about whether you will get laid, whether your boss is a dick and whether that ingrown toe nail is infected. What are you waiting for?
Sorry, but it's a matter of faith. If you believe there are higher powers then follow the religion you believe in. Most of them tell you how to contact (eg prayer, meditation), none say there will ever be a reply.

Well, there is no shortage of people from various religions who claim to be in contact with higher powers. I would suggest that you do a little research into different beliefs and then follow the path that seems right for you.
