He was verbal and physically abusive but what really finished it was when he decided to force me into his car,drive down some narrow country lanes at 80 miles an hour while drunk and threaten to smash the car into a tree after accusing me of cheating which I never did.

He was a wally.
I had to cross a large bit of open ground on my way home from work and it worried him, not enough to move closer and come and meet me.
I'd been crossing this 'field' for twenty years with no incident and yet it worried him so much that he had to finish with me so that he could sleep again.

We fought all the time, probably due to money stress. He called me a sl ag (totally unjustified). I threw a glass of water of him. That was that! Ironically we're quite good friends now!
