Same paradigm, is it not?
I'd like to pose a question to the person who said atheists are generally more intellectually adept than their country cousins who believe in more than just man:
What if you discover God actually does exist after you've taken the whip?
Wouldn't a wise person have all contingencies considered?

Good definition.
Maybe Atheists follow my principle about house contents insurance: by taking a risk by never buying it, and never being burgled, what I saved on the premiums afforded me a larger house to buy ten years later. Which is to say, Atheists are taking a rational gamble on their spiritual present, at the risk of an unlikely distant uninsured catastrophe.
Governments have already extended pensions for the crippled to pensions for all, and everyone complains about the failure of their pensions to provide for their old age; can you imagine the mess governments would make by extending their 'care' for us into the afterlife?

I think if the only reason you believe what you believe is so you don't go to hell you are damned anyways. Your argument is based on faith and not fact. If Muslims are right then Christians are uninsured. If Christians are right the Jews are uninsured. You forget, it is a rare religion that does not damn its counter part.

It's already happening, perhaps you didn't get the memo...
A few examples of 'family values' legislation and faith-based initiatives that circumvent the principles of separation of Church and State:

-- Within the past couple months, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Indiana) introduced an amendment to cut funding to Planned Parenthood because abortion counseling and client-paid abortions are included in the services they offer. It's already mandated that NO Federal Funds are to be used for abortion, but that wasn't 'far right enough' for him, so singled out Planned Parenthood to be denied Title X funds. For the agenda of a few, he was willing to deny millions of men, women and teens ALL Planned Parenthood services... family planning counseling (pregnancy prevention), pregnancy tests, birth control, gynecological care, STI/STD testing and treatment, blood pressure tests, etc. Fortunately, cooler heads (Dem and Rep) prevailed so the amendment failed.

'Socialized Medicine' is 'Bad', but 'Socialized Religion' is 'Good'? Would this be a dichotomy? Or just more old-fashioned hypocrisy?

Its sad but true.....and this type of uninsured will die an eternal death that will never end so spiritual insurance is even more important then health insurance, but if you even hint at legislating them to have spiritual insurance they would scream separation of church and state....even though the term separation of church and state are no where in the Constitution........of course I'm just playing along with your question...salvation is something that could NEVER be legislated by man....its ONLY by the grace of our Lord, through faith that one could ever have spiritual insurance..

No, atheists are just S.O.L.
Joan Collins (Dynasty) once did a commercial for the Chicago Health Club, in which her butler had to attend to every little detail for her, including packing her gym bag, and then snipes, "Shall I exercise for madam also?"
No, some things you just have to do for yourself.
