Well, you'd be checking your tyres, oil, water, screenwash etc before any trip, wouldn't you? Part of the test involves you showing the examiner how/where you would check some of these, so do it yourself beforehand so you can remember how.
The car doesn't need to be spotless, as long as there's nothing loose floating around inside and the glass is clean you'll be okay.
And angie does have a good point, get yourself a cheapo suction cup mirror and offer it to the examiner when you get in. He/she may well decline, in which case put it away on the glovebox, or they may stick it up where they want it. Either way, it'll be a brownie point as it shows you've thought about it. Won't affect your test but every little helps.

Obviously it has to be legal - so check tyres (and spare tyre), it has to have good visibility (so make sure windows etc are clean), I would clean inside as well for good measure, check your wipers and windscreen wash - if it's raining on the day you need to be able to use your wipers and wash, check your petrol and oil because you want your car to be running smooth on your test, hope you sail through x

No it doesnt. The car I used was an AA driving school Focus and it had toddler seats fitted in the back seat because my driving instructor had kids and sometimes need to pick up his kids when not on a lesson.
The only stipulation is that it must be road legal, and have extra mirrors for the examiner.
Theres a full list of conditions on the DSA website.

The honest answer is NO
But think about it the cleaner better looking the car everything checked, Tyres, washer bottle, ect the happier the tester will be, turn up in a nail and straight away he will think you dont know what you are doing.

Anything that you can do to give yourself more confidence would be helpful. I would want the car clean, and it the best running order that it could be in before I took the test.

good luck.

Everything mentioned above including checking your windscreen wipers are in working order. If everything is not in good order you will be turned down. (do clean the car, as the instructor will not sit in the car if it is filthy)
