It was said that Alonso blackmailed Ron Dennis with the email that shows McLaren indeed had Ferrari's data and information.
Ron then contacted Max Mosley first before Alonso could do so, and he told Max that his driver and test driver Pedro had info about the case.
Max then contacted both Alonso and Pedro, asking them to hand in all evidence and in return, FIA gives Alonso immunity, which means they will not take away his championship points. They both did so and the rest is history.

Alonso sent some e-mails to Pedro de la Rosa which showed that he knew about the data. Then Alonso blackmailed Ron Dennis with the email that proves McLaren have Ferrari's stolen data.
Ron then told Max Mosley that they both knew about the data and now McLaren are found guilty. All their constructors' points have been stripped but Alonso and Lewis still retain their points.

If you can be bothered (or bored like me) download and read the FIA transcripts of the WMSC meeting from the FIA website.
It is the undistorted truth and makes for an interesting read and insight into the poor relationship between Alonso and his soon to be former team

I just LOVE how things get distorted. Ok Alonso didnt "blackmail" anyone... he would have been fired long ago if he had. The press says he "threatened" dennis, well thats "headline english" for "he told Dennis to show the evidence or otherwise he would because mr Alonso is no cheater" ok? ok
