He said to me "bastard, go back to Mongolia"
His name starts with a "A".

Should I declare my complaint to greek police, or to turkish police ? Which court will judge and condemn him ?

Can you give me some advice please ?

Edit Leonarda : You don't need to apologize, because you are not responsible for what this guy said.
But I really felt offended because he showed me his hatred and his racism.

Edit Antonis : No, YOU started, because in many answers you show your turcophobia.

Edit Antonis : You are just a child, in fact. So I won't do any legal action, you are lucky. Just grow up, boy !!! The Cyprus problem is not a pretext for hating Turks...Just open your eyes and your heart, and you will see how good are Turks when you accept them as friends.

Reading all the others up to this point they all say forget it, move on and so forth. Well I'm telling you this, go for it tell the police Greek and Turkish see if you make the news in both countries. Now I could almost assure you that even they would turn there heads as you tell them how you was insulted. They also will be more polite and deal with it and because it is a report have to take action, I'm sure with a very low priority and the jokes that will be said in the ready rooms. The news that this will make they are hungry for such stuff, gets them off the war for a Little bit and you get to be the butt of the world. How would that feel? Would you rather just be called a "bastard"or a fool bastard. Do you even know what the word means?

Of course, you are within your legal rights if you choose to pursue litigation against anyone who insults you, on-line or IRL.

Exercising this right, however, is somewhat difficult. Firstly, you need to establish under what law to persecute. Turkish law does not apply, as the incident did not occur in Turkey. Greek law does not apply either, since you cannot know for certain that A. was typing in Greece (he might be Cypriot, a Greek living abroad, or even a Turk impersonating a Greek to provoke you). The most logical recourse would be US law, since Yahoo is an American company and the incident occured on their servers.

After contacting an American lawyer, your next step would be to determine A's identity. That would involve getting a court order to force Yahoo to reveal his IP address. Since this is not a criminal case, you are highly unlikely to obtain such a court order. If the IP address is traced back to Greece, you need another court order (from a Greek court) to force the Internet Service Provider to reveal which client was allocated that IP address. Assumming you get all this, you may find that the person had logged in from an internet cafe, or a computer hub operated by a university, so it will be impossible to trace the actual user.

Assuming you have identified A. you can then file charges for defamation in a Greek court, in which case you may be rewarded reparations proportionate to the actual harm the insult caused you, i.e. a pittance, and a compensation for any legal expenses (for the Greek court only). If the culprit is a minor, he's likely to get off with little more than a warning.

Are you sure this is a course of action you are willing to pursue? I hope you agree that some people are just not worth your valuable time...

let it go. do you have any idea how many users there are on the internet? and all you have to go on is that his name starts with the letter "A".

sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.

besides with the high cost of litigation now, and the cost of hiring a private eye, as you do have to determine the address of the person you will be suing, ..the costs would be better be put to good use by applying it to worthy charities.

you wont get rich if you sue this man, you will get poorer! geesshhh...get a life!

Another provokator? Ignore him. Legally you cannot do anything either in Greece or in Turkey. You can only appeal to a US court to pursue the case through Yahoo. Do you know how much it will cost and how long it will take?
I also feel insulted often by some users of different ethnic backgrounds. I do not consider them as representing their ethnic group/nation. What really offends me is yahoo's way of acting. They punish the victim not the ones who assault.

p.s. with all due respect, why do some people use every opportunity to talk about Cyprus. This question has nothing to do with it. I sympathize with the loss of Greek Cypriots originally from the north, and expect them to sympathize with my loss (I am from the south originally).
Now I will get lots of thumbsdown from them I know. lol.

hi, you must be new to the internet. unless he constantly harasses you or threatens you with violence, no, you can't do anything legally (what's the deal with legal action? don't be so sue-happy grow up)

Anyways, what you can do is try and find the rest of his name and report him for harassment or racism, both no-no's under the ToS. That will either get him a warning or banned.

Don't worry. I saw his post too. He probably has a problem with himself and reacts like that. It's not your fault. Just ignore him. Trust me some people don't like to see the truth. They usually can't stand it. He likes to believe you are an enemy because he's afraid/not ready to see you as equal. In phycology this is called absence of self-esteem & self-confidence. He might wants to see you in a "low" position so he can feel more"powerful, smart, whatever" than you are as he can't accept the reality. He made his choice. He'll definitely realise one day he's wrong and it'd be much harder than now for him to deal.

;-) hope i've helped (and as i said in other posts the most are against our thinking. You'll meet many Antonis K in here by the time you say the truth. And you are going to have many thumbs down in your posts too. I'm telling you so to be ready. Don't dare to let them rule, don't let them disappoint you. The weak people are usually the ones who start fights ^_^)

It all depends... were your parents married when you were conceived/born? Are you originally from Mongolia? Would a reasonable person think you could be a bastard from mongolia?

You have absolutely no legal recourse... odds are "mr. A" is not subject to Greek or Turkish laws, and even if he was, no court would waste its time on him.

you shouldn't take this too seriously, you know ! I've been insulted several times, too, but yet, I just don't give a damn. This is not real life, after all, is it ?? Stick with your online friends and forget the morons, that's my advice !

I understand what you may feel, as I also have been insulted by some trolls here...I even have been victim of defamation, several times, and they cloned me in order to create confusion and hatred .

By the way, this boy is obviously an immature person, maybe he will change with experience of life...

I agree 100% with Angelo...Well spoken also Mary and Leonarda.
