You will find that many lawyers who do estate planning for private clients have the Certified Financial Planner designation.

Within the business arena, some lawyers also have Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees. Lawyers become involved in financial planning for both individuals and corporations. Both personal and corporate financial planning is important. Also, lawyers are involved in financial operations for matters such as investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, as well as work with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

It would help to study as much tax law as you can, and after law school, consider getting an LL. M. degree in taxation from a highly-rated law school which offers advanced training beyond the Juris Doctor degree.

You can be a lawyer and practice anything that you like. instead of doing something like being a divorce lawyer, criminal lawyer, you can do only financial things. There are attorneys that deal strictly with bankruptcies and that's it. That is in a financial category, it's what you want to do with your law practice as long as it's legal.

Yep, there are.

And there are different fields of being a financial laywer too.

Some deal with estate planning, some with tax law, etc etc.
