It is very difficult to get lost in the forest as we read in the stories. Forests are now having enough information and guiding marks. The first thing you can do is - think who and from what point you are lost - from others with you and find out the land marks or direction marks. Try to listen the sounds of movements of men and animals and decide what to do. Naturally all will depend on where you are lost and what you are equipped with and what was the condition - what you did wrong?. If you are lost in the forest near your normal residence and have maps and compass, you could look at the direction and try to walk out of it. If you have a GPS phone, you will know where you are and can alert the police. Presumably you have forest-fit shoes, clothing, water and food, a good torchlight and a lighter to make fire in the night etc. If you have gone on a tracking and you are lost - find out the land marks and ask for the help from forest guards.

The equipment is very important. If you have a good compass, you would find your way out of the jungle. If you have a GPS phone or a laptop, you can call or link to the police. The clothings, water & food shall help you to get across for one day. If you have any matchsticks, you can spend a night over there. All forest have one thing common in them, it's trees & fruits. Fruits can help you in eating but be careful, there may be poisonous fruits in the jungle too.
To get lost in a forest is very alarming so whenever you go into a forest, carry two things along, water & matchsticks. If you find a river, follow straight along the river & walk beside it. You will definitely reach a land of people. I had implemented this idea when I was lost in the forest. I took the river's way & walked along it. Finally I got some village people who helped me in my way out.

Depends what type of forest, climate. Firstly it would be wise to find a river or stream. this is handy for two reasons. 1) if you follow down stream of the river/stream, you are likely eventually to come across some form of civilisation. 2) by staying on or close to the river/stream, you will have a constant water supply. As you would be in a forest it would be likley there would be veins of water.
You would have to consider eating after matbe 6 or 7 days, your body can last longer without food, but physical and mental fatigue will hamper you. Water you need pretty much straight away.
I was lost for 11 days when in the forests and mountains of Wales when i was 15. the police spent 50,000 pounds trying to find me. It was the scariest time of my life, i ate nothing, and had to spend a week in hospital when i got out.

If you frequently go to forest then you should take something with you to defend yourself fire(AAG) is a thing which can make the animals scare And you should take dry fruit and choclate with you coz forest food is not adviseable to eat for humans and dry fruit and choclate is a good source of energy and easy to carry. And 1 more thing animals are scared from loud sounds

Find a creekbed and follow it DOWNstream. It will come to a larger waterway sooner or later, and then to a bridge with a road on it.
