Any man or woman who has an axe to grind against women use feminists as their scapegoat. If you're upset about your divorce settlement or custody battle, feminists are an easy target to blame and vent your frustration and helplessness onto. My marriage was a mess, but am I blaming men or anti-feminists? We sucked at marriage, that's all. lol

Not all men. Especially don't take this site as indicative of the culture as a whole. But you are right, that there's a lot of hostility towards feminism amongst a lot of men. I think it's a perceived loss of power thing. They think that, if a woman doesn't _need_ a man, then she won't want one, especially them. It's kind of sad that guys don't realize that we do actually like them! And that they have good qualities! If they'd just get their heads out of their @sses! I think that men are more likely than women to buy into the feminazi bullsh!t of the Rush Limbaugh set, because women, being the ones bearing the brunt of sexism, are more likely to realize that feminists have a point.

because feminist hate men. On both sides, it's only a majority that hate each other. There are those who are actually mature and respect each other.

Feminists are the new propaganda scapegoat - last time it was the communists. Governments have a vested interest in keeping the proletariat frightened of some bogeyperson for the dispossessed to tar and feather. Men hating women? Just fits nicely. Men with no confidence fall for it easily. It prevents revolution and central-city unrest.

You don't think any decent bloke with anything better to do, would hang around GWS at a weekend taunting and harrassing women do you?

men in general don't, at least not in my experience. I think that a great deal of the men on this site would be surprised how many feminists they know and love. however, there are a great deal of men who assume that because a woman insulted him she must be a feminist. There is this assumption that feminism=man hating. I also think its a bit of jealousy. we have had a movement that allows women the freedom to move outside of their gender role expectations and be generally accepted for it. we haven't had that for men yet. so the m,en that are convinced that feminism is about female superiority are frustrated because while these women are now "allowed" to be something other than what their gender role proscribes for them, men are not, or at least they still feel a great deal of pressure to conform to societal expectations of masculinity. They want the freedom too and i say give it to them.

I am curious about how some of the people who have answered your question rationalize their beliefs.
how exactly does a woman who wants to be able to get an education and have a job contribute to the decline of western civilization? how is it that a woman who wants to be treated like a person and not a possession hates men?

jackson: there were a great deal of women working before feminism, and those seem to be ignored every time this argument is made. the women who didnt were women who could afford not to, and in the current economic climate, that number is dwindling. it has nothing to do with feminism "forcing" women to work, it has to do with people not being able to feed their children on only one income.

Divorce rates going up has just shown that divorce has become more socially acceptable, and there is no proof that this is linked to feminism. maybe indeed the democratization of family law has allowed women and men to leave unions that were bad for them, but couldnt this be a symptom of rushing into marriage as opposed to being too ready to divorce? i still fail to see any proof of a decline in our civilization that can be causally linked to divorce rates. Most of the decline in our civilization seems to come from lack of education and wealth hoarding by a few at the expense of many, which is an argument for a completely different forum.

lets we look at the argument this way: what good does it do for western civilization for a man or a woman to be trapped in a union with another human being who treats them like garbage?

Because feminists are at the forefront of a movement meant to take away power men have and give some of it to women. This is not to say that they want to eunuch men or oppress them. It simply means that they want to level the playing field.

Because they seem to want to act like men and aren't. It's just kind of strange. Granted, I want women to be happy, but if I was a women I'd realize the grace and power I have. What is wrong with the traditional role of a women? Granted, I'm glad women have expanded their horizons, but I don't think it's been good for society. I think the feminist movement combined with birth control has basically devastated the family and sent females down the wrong path. Almost all the women I meet now days have stories of depression or need antidepressants. Face it, women are dependent on men and men are dependent on women. I think women should realize they best serve the world as mothers. Although, go for whatever you dream, but it couldn't be better than being a wife and a mother. Think about it, you have breasts to feed children, a uterus to have them, and most women have the heart and patience needed to parent. Why the hell would you want more than that. Granted, women should have the choice to do what they want, but I don't think feminists have helped women, family, men, or the world.

Men do not hate normal women. Personally I love normal women, they are lovely. I just hate "feminists" because feminists want their cake and eat it and want it all served up on a silver platter. And they behave in a "superious" manner, mistakenly believing themselves to be superior.

And that mangina guy who calls himself a feminist and believes himself to be a "progressive" needs his bumps feeling.
